About Letters Between Us

Irish-born founder Laura has made a life for herself in England over the past fifteen years. I started Letters Between Us as a way to bring something simple back, a connection through writing. Letter writing felt like a way to bring some of that back.
What began as a small idea has grown into in-person sessions, pen pal exchanges, and projects that connect people in a more meaningful way, whether that’s writing to someone else or simply taking time to write for yourself.
Alongside this, I write short stories and poetry rooted in Irish identity, memory, and childhood, which recently included 40-year-old me tracking down a poem I had published at nine… and actually finding it.

A Childhood Poem
My first published poem, age 9 — Cork Women’s Poetry Circle, 1995.
At its core, Letters Between Us is about creating simple, thoughtful moments of connection through words.

“Alongside this, I’ve begun sharing my writing more publicly, including being shortlisted as a finalist in the 2026 Stamford Poet Laureate competition.”
Writing & Storytelling
I also write short stories and poetry inspired by Irish life, nostalgia, and everyday memories. Storytelling and reflection naturally shape the heart of Letters Between Us — encouraging people to slow down, write, and reconnect through words.
